This walking tour combines seeing the sights of Catania with authentic tastes of its street food and a visit to the fish market. A must for ‘foodies’ and curious travellers!
Explore the beautiful flavours of Catania
Starting from Piazza Stesicoro, the tour kicks off with a stop at San Giovanni Li Cuti, a small fisherman’s village, with its black volcanic sandy beach. After a Sicilian breakfast of brioche with granita the tour continues back into the city, through its ancient alleys and old town squares and stoppping to admire the famous Duomo of Catania. From here you will head on to the quaint fish market, better known as “la pescheria”, where you will taste local cheeses, olives and oil. The tour proceeds to the outside of Castello Ursino, a fortress built between 1239 and 1250 by the architect Riccardo da Lentini where you will enjoy a tasting of typical Sicilian street food: arancini, small pizza, cipollina, cartocciata.
The walking food tour ends in Duomo Square.
